Heidi Ritterbush
Heidi is an award winning Pastel Artist. She
has always been an artist and has no formal training. She was always known
as the classroom artist, while growing up. She won many ribbons for her art
work in elementary school and in bible school. She sold her first piece of
art (a ceramic sculpture) in the 7th grade. In middle school and in high
school, she had the opportunity to work in many mediums including ceramics,
silk screen, watercolors, acrylics, oils, and stained glass.
Heidi earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in geology at CLU where she also
found time to make three stained glass windows. The windows were installed
in the pastor’s office and remained there for many years until the old
buildings were torn down for new construction. She currently has the
windows.
After college, she worked for a stained glass Window business, "Innovations
in Glass", in Canoga Park. Four years later, she became a stay at home mom.
Heidi's art came to a halt while raising her three sons. When her boys were
older, she bought some pastels and some books and started playing. She took
a class with Steve Walters at the California Art Institute. A few years
later, she entered a competition and won a prize. Since then she has been
competing.
Heidi paints mostly landscapes but occasionally dabbles in still life. She
loves the land and is especially fond of the California. Her work has been
on display at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, Linda Parks Office, Seven
Oaks Rehabilitation and Fitness Center, The Hillcrest Center for the Arts,
and The Civic Arts Plaza.
Heidi is currently selling art work, competing, and teaching pastel classes
at The Hillcrest Center for the Arts.
