Gregory Weir-Quiton
Raised in Detroit,
Gregory saw a fashion illustration in the newspaper and knew he had found
his calling. For 35 years, Gregory worked with major California
retailers in the fashion industry including, THE MAY COMPANY, ROBINSONS,
BULLOCKS, THE BROADWAY and I. MAGNIN.
With the fall of those retailers and the decline of fashion illustration,
Gregory reinvented himself at Hollywood ad agency, BLT & Associates, where
he works on major film and television releases. Gregory’s original concept
sketch, drawn on a napkin for STEPHEN SPIELBERG, eventually became the
iconic DREAMWORKS logo of the boy fishing on the crescent moon.
Some of the projects Gregory has worked on include: Titanic, Mission
Impossible, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Men in Black, Spiderman,
As Good As It Gets, Saving Private Ryan, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under,
Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal and Lost, to name a few.
In 2005, Gregory was asked to be one of four entertainment artists in the
invitational “Four By Four” show at Harold’s Gallery, Los Angeles. At the
exhibit he met Academy Award Winning costume designer, James Acheson, who
purchased several of Gregory’s original fashion drawings for his home in New
Zealand.
After working as an illustrator for years Gregory discovered the work of
EGON SCHIELE and his love of drawing was renewed. Gregory is never without a
sketchbook, drawing wherever he goes, and is a respected mentor to other
artists.
From an extensive portfolio, Gregory is reproducing his original drawings on
greeting cards that are suitable for framing. GWQ Drawings on Cards are an
exciting and affordable way to collect his work.

PERSONAL STATEMENT: My passion is drawing the
contemporary figure. Fashion design obviously influences my work since what
intrigues me is how people design themselves (and everyone does). The
drawing is an end in itself and I rarely add anything once the pose is over.
All the work shown is from life. |
