                   February 7, 2012 Demo Artist

Paulo Ruvacalba, a native Southern California award-winning artist, was born in Santa Paula and raised in Fillmore. Following his high school years, he traveled to Italy to study oil painting at the Florence Academy of Art summer program. On returning to California, Paulo earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. He then became employed in the entertainment arts industry in Los Angeles while continuing his study of oil painting at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art. Paulo has worked as an illustrator for various video game and film studios and currently spends his time between contract illustrations, fine art, and teaching. “Painting is my language of choice,” says Paulo; “the poetry I can use to tell my stories.” “In a field of deliciously rich colors, versatile consistency, and fresh edge quality, I simply enjoy painting to no end.”

In collaboration with the Fillmore History Museum, Friends of the California Condors, and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Paulo is presently performing field research and studies to create a painting with accurate depictions intended to replace the original display the Museum lost during the 1994 Northridge earthquake. His work is currently on display at the Santa Paula Art Museum through January 29, 2012 as part of the De Colores Art Show. Additionally, he exhibits at various art events throughout the Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
